Life is not made of sacrifices,
it is made of choices
Services
To become a good athlete's parent, you first have to get to know yourself, know your limits and, above all, understand your different roles. Sometimes talking to other parents isn't enough. We need someone outside the situation to help us analyze our behaviors and get in touch with our emotions. My role is to work with you to create the best conditions for your athlete to develop to the height of his or her talent.
As a consultant, I offer the following services:
- Offer support in learning how to manage emotions during the various stages of the athlete's journey (e.g.: align the athlete's goals with those of the parents, and take into account the financial reality and sacrifices to be made).
- Offer psychosocial support to resolve impasses, relational difficulties and communication problems (e.g.: another parent insults my child, or the coach forbids me to be on the sidelines to encourage my child...I don't know what to do!)
- Offer a listening ear to help maintain a balance within the couple or the family (e.g.: mother and father don't see the athlete's career path in the same way and as a mother and father we are experiencing emotions because our child has just received an offer to study to practice his sport abroad).
- Help you develop your strengths and qualities as a coach (e.g.: it's the process that counts, not the result!).
- Offer the tools and resources needed to accompany the athlete along the way (e.g.: provide information on the scholarship system, medical insurance coverage).
- Help the athlete make the best choices (e.g.: sports versus studies, setting realistic goals and deadlines!)

Testimony
Hello,
First of all, I'd like to underline Guylaine's exceptional commitment to helping athletes and parents of athletes make the transition to the USA. For my part, the fact that my daughter Justine (goalkeeper) wanted to leave at such an early age (15) to live her dream (pro soccer) was a bit of a shock. As for me, not liking the unknown at all, I'd say my stress level was at its highest. What was to be done? Who to listen to? Who could we trust? We wanted to help our child, but how could we do it, and at what cost?
One day, after talking to Rino (Cleansheet International), he recommended that I talk to Guylaine, who had already gone through all this last year with her son Isaac. That's what I did, and believe me, it was very enlightening.
Guylaine helped us see many facets of the process, both pros and cons. As for Justine, it helped her make a better choice, given that she had several Prep School acceptances in different states.
So, I'd like to tell everyone that nothing beats talking to qualified people like Guylaine who know the real version of how life is on the other side of our beautiful border!
Thank you for your valuable time and advice Guylaine. We and Justine thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Lyette, Marc and Justine
